Though all of the primary school-aged students currently attend the local school, Escuela Las Gemelas, ECC provides an extracurricular educational option, supplementing their Spanish education. ECC promises that all classes are formed according to the needs and petitions of the community and that all workbooks and class materials are provided.

Academic Year

The 2009 official school year begins in February and continues until October.

We currently offer three types of English classes:

1. English as a Second Language (ESL) classes with local Costa Rican children (ages pre-K- 6th grade) and adults (beginning, intermediate, and advanced). ESL classes use a variety of textbooks and workbooks.
2. English Immersion Program is offered to our pre-school and first grade ESL students. This program merges our youngest local ESL students and our native English-speaking students into one multicultural classroom. Classes are based on a Calvert Home School curriculum and taught in English. Students follow our English Immersion track until the 6th grade level.
3. Home school classes for English-speaking students (fluent local Costa Ricans as well as foreign residents). Home school classes offered to grades 1-6 primarily utilize the English reading, writing, and comprehension components of the Calvert Home School and Oak Meadow programs, along with other materials from the same publishers.
